Skin cancer is probably the most common type of human cancer, which produces external signs for diagnosis at early stages. They can be easily identified by changes in the appearance of the skin, such as a sore or lump on the skin. Basal carcinoma and squamous carcinoma are the two types of skin cancer. Melanoma is a type which spreads throughout the body rapidly. Basal carcinoma has unusual cancer activity of not spreading to other parts of the body; instead, they grow and affect the nearby tissues and therefore making the problem bigger. Skin cancer is easy on light colored skin and nearly twenty percent cancer starts in locations that are not exposed to the sun. Deficiency of immune system promotes the chances of skin cancer to great extent. People living in areas with high ultraviolet radiation from the sun are likely to develop this type of cancer easily. Sometimes, skin cancer shows up in older stages of life, usually after fifty years of age. Skin cancer creates a mole with a color different darker than the color of the skin. To diagnose this cancer, a small piece of the skin is removed and tested for biopsy. Then the patch is looked under microscope to identify cancer cells.
